I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I love summertime. However, in the last few years, I get a bit giddy when fall comes around. Perhaps it's the love of Hygge and cozy overtaking me—who knows?

Whatever it is, I tend to "fall" in love with fall every year. And I think it's one of the most fun seasons for decorating. Plus, it's easy to decorate on a budget if you need to.

If you're itching to start creating an autumn feel to your home, these budget-friendly fall décor ideas are for you!

7 Adorable & Affordable Fall Décor Ideas

The sky is the limit with inexpensive fall decorating ideas. But here are some of my favorite ideas for decorating for fall.

  1. Make a Fall Foliage Centerpiece

An easy way to add some autumn flair to your home is with a beautiful centerpiece featuring a decorative mix of fall foliage. You can find adorable decorative tins and vases at the Dollar Tree or Dollar General for a pretty reasonable price. Or you can upcycle items such as coffee and tea pots, as well as mugs.

They usually have bags of decorative fruit or fall foliage you can put into the tins or vases. You could also have some fun and go out and collect your own stuff. Pinecones, acorns, and leaves are all free in your yard or at the park. (Just spray them for bugs before you bring them inside—personal lesson learned 🤣)

2. Display Fall-Themed Canisters, Bowls, and Jars

Most of the time, you can find fall-themed canisters, bowls, and jars at stores such as Big Lots, Dollar Tree, or Dollar General. Of course, I always advise searching for pre-owned items if possible. You can find some wonderful items on Facebook Marketplace and Etsy. One year, I found some super cute pumpkin canisters at a great price, and they looked really festive on the counter.

So, select a few fun items and display them to give your home a cozy fall feel. You could also make candy dishes with them!

3. Decorate with Signs & Wreaths

You can’t have fall décor without an autumn wreath and some sweet little signs around. Rather than buying a wreath for your front door, why not make one? Check out this YouTube tutorial by Glue Guns & Roses to learn how to create trendy wreaths on a budget.

Again, you can always visit frugal stores, such as Dollar Tree, for fall décor items, signs, and more. You could also opt to get the items needed to make your own signs.

There are so many different things you can DIY. Browse Pinterest for some inexpensive fall decorating ideas with signs!

4. Candles, Warmers, and Potpourri Oh My!

One of the best things about autumn is all the yummy smells from baking your favorite desserts. Of course, you don’t have to bake to make your house smell amazing.

Try these simple ideas to bring the scent of autumn into your home:

Scented Candles

Many fall-scented candles, such as pumpkin spice, apple pie, and more, will leave your home smelling savory and soothing.

You could make it more fun by making your own candles. This is one of my new hobbies, and I love it!

Invest in a Warmer

Warmers are perfect for fall décor because not only do they have some shaped like cute pumpkins, but they also add an alluring aroma to your home.

You can change out the scents, and the warmer can be used for the entire season or year-round if you enjoy pumpkins as much as I do.

One of the great things about warmers is that you can use them season after season.

Pour Some Potpourri

For a simple yet fragrant idea, grab a harvest bag of potpourri for a couple of bucks and add it to your decorative fruit centerpieces for a sweet-scented touch of fall décor.

Find a bag that has a blend of orange, brown, and green, so it pairs perfectly together.

5. Fall-Themed Rugs

Add a bit more fall flair to your home with some cute rugs. Not only does a welcome rug give your home a warm and fuzzy feeling, but it keeps your floors cleaner, too.

The thicker, rugged rugs are perfect for your entryways, and the thinner rugs are great in the kitchen or living room.

There are so many to choose from! Or you could get savvy and make your own DIY stenciled fall welcome mat with the help of HGTV.

6. Dress Up Your Windows with Decals

You can bring fall to your front windows by sprucing them up with decals and window clings. These are a quick and easy way to get fall décor for the outside of your home.

Pick up different packs for only $1.50 each at the Dollar Tree and add some spice to your outdoor décor from the inside.

7. Front Yard and Porch Fall Décor

One of my favorite things to do is decorate my yard and porch with fall décor. It’s fun and festive, plus I get to be outside!

Hay bales are a must for outdoor autumn décor. You can pick up a bail or three 🤣 at Ace Hardware or a farmer’s market. You can decorate them with scarecrows, pumpkins, and beautiful flowers such as mums.

The best thing about mums is that they come back every year! You just have to give them a little winter care, and you can enjoy them for many seasons. (Check out my article on Real Simple to learn how to grow and care for mums!)

If you love the scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz, as much as I do you can try making your own this season. Check out YouTube for tutorials on how to make your very own scarecrow!
