Life is just too short, and I can’t take the constant chaos anymore. Also, after working from home for the last year and being able to see my fur babies more, it has opened my eyes to the need for a simpler life.

So much so that it is my goal to work less, make more, and have a life where I get to be with those I love more, do more things that bring me joy, and finally, have some time to myself.

We actually sold our house and are using the money to fix up my great great grandfathers cabin.

Do you feel as if you’re drowning in debt, chaos, and never have time for the more important things? It may be time to take a step back and figure out what you truly want and what you actually need. That is exactly what I am doing.

Here is the beginning of my new journey to my hygge cabin and the steps I’m taking to make it happen.

  1. Decluttering and Minimizing

I’ve wanted to become a minimalist for a while now. But you know how life keeps you busy, and things get pushed aside. However, I’m using my new Hygge Cabin inspiration to finally get decluttered and minimize!

So, I’m going through all of my stuff and only taking what I envision in my new dream home. This makes it easier to part with quite a bit of stuff. For instance, plastic dishware and furniture that won’t go with my new cozy decor.

Over the next month, I will be entering into “Extreme Decluttering Mode!”

2. Selling Our Stuff!

One great thing about decluttering is I can make some extra cash selling the stuff I’m not keeping. We are going to downsize the number of vehicles we have, furniture, clothes, etc. So, whatever I don’t take, I will sell it online and have yardsales for the stuff not worth putting online.

3. Paying Off Debt

Being in debt sucks. It causes stress and anxiety and makes you work your life away to pay for stuff you don’t really need. Sure, we need to have a home, perhaps a car, etc. But my goal is to simplify to the point that I am debt-free.

The key to getting debt-free is using techniques like the Avalanche Method and first knocking down your most expensive debt (like credit cards). This is my favorite debt pay-off method out of all of them because you save a ton of money on interest.

A debt-free life is the goal because it makes life much easier!

4. Living on Less

The next step is learning how to live on less, much less. Over the last few years, I’ve learned that the more I have, the more money I have to make and the more stressed out I am. More vehicles mean more payments, insurance, etc.

A bigger house means a bigger payment, more cost in electricity, and way more to clean.

We are living part-time in our camper so we can work on the cabin, and we have been practicing conserving water, using the campfire for cooking, and utilizing solar lighting at night.

It’s pretty crazy how much we were wasting at the apartment compared to the camper. So, we are doing our best to live more conservatively and sustainably.

5. Taking It One Step at a Time

I have to admit, simplifying takes time and dedication. Life gets easier afterward, but the transition can be a bit difficult.

I am so anxious to be in my Hygge Cabin, but I know it’s going to take these steps and much patience to get to where I want to be.

Do You Dream of Living in a Hygge Cabin?

Is it your dream to live in a quant Hygge Cabin? You can do it! You just have to sit down and make a plan to accomplish it. Remember, anything is possible if you want it. Take steps to simplify your life, become debt free, and live in your dream home.
